The Scribe – February 2020, Volume I

Souper Bowl

During the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 2, a 30 second commercial will cost $5.6 million. That’s over $11 million a minute! On a day most Americans are focused on the game, eating, and ads, it’s reasonable for us to also remember those who are hungry. Plan to bring non-perishable food or money so that our Black Forest Food panty can share with those who do not have enough to eat. It’s our Souper Bowl!

Sermon on the Mount

For the next 3 Sundays – we will focus on Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount.

February 2 – The Beatitudes – Matthew 5:1-12

February 9 – You are the Light – Matthew 5:13-20

February 16 – The Life He Intended – Matthew 5:21-37

Read and reflect on these verses during the week. Then join me on Sundays as we hear Jesus’ Sermon.

Joining Jesus

For the next 10 Sundays, I will be leading a class on Joining Jesus on his Mission. Based on a video by Greg Finke, author of the ‘Joining Jesus’ book, we will hear a main suggestion each week, process it together, then think how we each will act on it. These are simple, easy, baby steps for putting in practice Jesus call to follow him. Join me on Sundays at 9:30 AM starting February 2.

SOUPER BOWL

February 2 – Souper Bowl of Caring is a national movement of young people working to fight hunger and poverty in their own communities around the time of Super Bowl football game. We will be collecting monetary donations and food for the people in need. Our donations will go to Black Forest Cares.
