The Wonder of John’s Gospel
New Adult class beginning Sunday, March 4
The Gospel of John was a favorite of Martin Luther. Cosmic in scope, it helps us understand Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection in the context of the entire biblical story. We hear that Jesus is the Word, Lamb of God, Bread of Life, Light of the World, Vine, Good Shepherd, the Way, Truth and Life.
Join me as we trace these themes through the scriptures so that “you may come and believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that through believing your might have life in this name” John 20:30
Lent - Wednesday Nights
Wednesday evenings begin with a soup supper at 6:00 PM. Worship with the peaceful Holden Evening Prayer begins at 7:00 PM. Our reflections will focus on the Serenity Prayer. We will use portions of this prayer each Wednesday to guide our reflection on related scriptures so that we may learn to put our trust in God.
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept what I cannot change,
the courage to change what I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Feb. 28 - Living one day at a time. Enjoying one moment at a time.
March 7 - Accepting hardship as the pathway to peace.
March 14 - Taking, as Jesus did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it. March 21 - Trusting that you will make all things right, if I surrender to your will. March 29 - So that I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with you forever in the next. (Maundy Thursday)
Join me on Wednesday evenings and bring your Bible.

WHAT THE BFLC BOOK GROUP IS READING FOR MARCH
Lost Lake by Sarah Addison Allen
Discussion on Wed. March 21 at 1:00 PM
Suley, Georgia, is home to Lost Lake Cottages and not much else. That is why it's the perfect place for newly-widowed Kate and her eccentric eight-year-old daughter Devin to heal. Kate spent one memorable childhood summer at Lost Lake, had her first almost-kiss at Lost Lake, and met a boy named Wes at Lost Lake. It was a place for dreaming. But Kate doesn't believe in dreams anymore, and her Aunt Eby, Lost Lake's owner, wants to sell the place and move on. Lost Lake's magic is gone. As Kate discovers that time has a way of standing still at Lost Lake, can she bring the cottages--and her heart--back to life? Because sometimes the things you love have a funny way of turning up again. And sometimes you never even know they were lost . . . until they are found.
All are welcome to join us at the church for discussion. Copies of the book on loan from the Pikes Peak Library District Book Club Collection are available in the church office to be signed out. Please call Nancy Lord with any questions.
