The Scribe – June 2020

From Pastor Ken

How good and pleasant it is for God’s people to be together in unity. Psalm 133

It was indeed good to gather together for worship last Sunday, June 7. We are blessed to have our outdoor worship area especially to have room to spread out in this time of social distancing. Outside we can accommodate 3 to 4 times as many members for worship as are now allowed in our sanctuary.

To all who were here for worship Sunday I thank you for wearing a mask, keeping 6 feet apart, not congregating, or even hugging. We’d all rather not be in this situation, but your action shows your care for each other.

We are working hard to expand our indoor seating for wet or cold Sundays. Bringing sound and video into the Fellowship Hall would allow us to double our indoor seating capacity from our current limit of 50 in the sanctuary. Overflow seating in the Fellowship Hall is not anyone’s first choice but it is our best option when the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Thank you for your patience during this challenging time. We plan on worshipping in our outdoor worship area in the coming weeks.

Hello all, Jacob here again!
As many of you know we had our graduation honoring service on May 31. We are so appreciative of the hard work and dedication that goes into every single senior who graduates. Parents, teachers, and obviously the seniors themselves pour themselves into school, sports, and extra-curriculars and we wanted to not only offer the graduates a gift, but also the recognition they deserve. I also want to say a special thank you to everyone who worked on making the service possible, from knitting the blankets, making masks, cleaning and disinfecting the sanctuary, making the senior slideshow and everything in between. You are loved and appreciated. If you haven’t checked out the service you should jump online and check it out now!

Although we are still practicing safe distancing, I want to let everyone know that we are still providing services and resources online. On our website you have our Sunday morning worship services, youth Bible studies, and children’s sermons that are available for your viewing pleasure. We are working on and updating the website every week with great content, you should check it all out and let your friends and family know as well.

Finally, we are looking ahead to some exciting events taking place this month that you’ll have to keep your eyes out for, included in these events are confirmation camp, outdoor movie and VBS. Although these will look different from what they have in the past, our prayers are that in all we do we continue to give God glory and better further His kingdom.

I am reminded of Paul’s works in Philippians 3 when he says that when we have Christ we have everything we need. We can also hold to the truths of Matthew 28:20 when our Lord promised that he will be with us always. No matter what we are going through and experiencing during this time, no matter what events and unrest may be occurring in the world or in our own households, let us continually look to the cross for our answers.
