From Jacob Oglesby, Youth and Family Ministries Director

Hello all,
Throughout the month of July, we have been so blessed with great weather and great times together. From confirmation camp late last month to bingo night (where kids always seem to win!) and everything in between we are so excited to be able to share food and fellowship with one another.

As we prepare to usher in a new School year there are several fun activities and events that we have lined up for you and your family. I am also excited that I get to spend the week at Rainbow Trail with some of our students the first week in August. These are always such amazing times and I have seen firsthand the kind of life change that comes from these weeks. As always, your prayers are appreciated.

Young Adult
Our young adult group is also meeting regularly. If you are post college to around mid-30’s and you have not yet been connected let either me or Lisa know. We would love to get you plugged in to some fun stuff we have going on. This is not a closed church group – if you have friends or family that fit in this category that you would like to see more involved in the church world we would love to reach out. Just let us know!

Young Adult BBQ
The Bushes and I continue to offer young adult engagement opportunities at least once a month at their house. Our next event is scheduled for Wednesday, August 17 @ 6:30p. Meat is provided; bring a side dish to share. See page 2 in the Scribe for additional information.

Movie Night
Our next movie night will be Friday, August 19th beginning at 8:00p. We will provide the popcorn and bottled water; you bring the fun (and any other fun snacks that you might have). We left it to a vote, and we will be watching Wall-E on the big screen. Bring your family and invite a friend.

Men’s Support Group
Finally, we have our Men’s Support Group which meets the fourth Thursday of every month at 6:30p. In our changing and trying world men need to know that it is okay to struggle, to be challenged, and to ask for help. Mike Regennitter and Jacob Oglesby invite men that may be struggling or maybe just need an encouraging word to join them in a conversation to discover that they are not alone. There seem to be few safe spaces for men to be real and authentic with one another, this is one of those spaces. We will have conversation, those who are willing can share their thoughts and stories, and we will be given tools for how not to just survive, but to thrive.

For His glory,
Jacob Oglesby
