New Lecture Series
The American Mind by Allen C. Guelzo of Gettysburg College. Americans pride themselves on being doers rather than thinkers. Ideas are naturally suspect to such a people. But ideas are at the root of what it means to be American, and today's habits of thought practiced by citizens throughout the United States are the lineal descendants of a powerful body of ideas that trace back to the first European settlers and that was enriched by later generations of American thinkers. We will start on Tuesday, September 11th from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Fellowship Hall. We will watch two 30 minute lectures with brief discussion after each. Please bring brown bag lunch. This is a 36 lecture series and will run for 18 weeks, with a break for Christmas and New Years.
