During these 40 days of Lent we set our sights to rediscover Jesus. We all know facts about Jesus. This season our goal is to go beyond this and come to know him deeper.
1. Be reading our Lenten book Rediscover Jesus each day. Read a brief chapter Monday – Saturday. On Sundays focus on our texts for the day.
2. On Wednesdays at 10:30 AM, come discuss Rediscover Jesus to digest it more.
3. Come if you can to our Wednesday soup and bread suppers at 6:00 PM. What a great way to simplify life during Lent. Sign-up to bring food when you can.
4. Come to Wednesday Lenten service at 7:00 PM. It’s a peaceful service with times of silence for prayer and meditation. We’ll also focus on themes from our daily readings from Rediscover Jesus.
Choose Life - Addressing Youth Suicide
El Paso County has one of the highest suicide rates in the nation. This school year 7 students have taken their lives in the Colorado Springs area. The facts are frightening. What can we do? How do we respond? I invite you as parents, grandparents, and concerned adults to join me and several resource people on Sunday, March 19 and 26 at 9:30 AM. We’ll respond to questions & offer ways to support our kids and open up communication with them.
Counselor Lynn Cerullo will be with us on Sunday, April 2 in our 9:30 AM adult class. How do we deal with people who are hard to be with? How can we be more confident, real and approachable?
Lynn is a Christian and a Counselor with the Healing Center, Colorado
This year’s Lenten offerings will be collected for our Good Samaritan Fund. The Social Ministry Committee administers this fund whose purpose is intended to provide funds to predominately Coloradoans who have suffered a personal or natural disaster. The broad areas of assistance include help for natural or man-made disasters, people in need, health problems, or housing needs.
Over the past several years, contributions to this fund were used to buy trees for Black Forest fire victims, a foster parent who had cystic fibrosis, and victims of the Canadian wildfires (they had helped us in the past). Recently, the Social Ministry Committee spent money from this fund to help Colleen Little Moon in Pine Ridge purchase a used car when hers broke down.
We really appreciate your contributions during Lent to this fund!
