Regional/National Ministries:

Pikes Peak Habitat for Humanity: PPHH has partnered with Thrivent Financial for Lutherans since 2006, underwriting a substantial amount of the cost .Times for the project vary but will be announced in The Scribe, on the bulletin board or via email. You can be a volunteer at the site. You can provide lunch for the volunteers on a building day. Cash donations are always appreciated. Please do this through our church as we want donations applied through Thrivent Builds.

Mosaic: This organization operates homes and facilities to people with disabilities. Colorado Springs works with several clients in four adult group homes. BFLC has sponsored the Brown Valley Home with four residents. We need a Bridge Builder (a liaison between BFLC and Mosaic). You can donate cancelled postage stamps and, soup labels to help with funding. You can also visit with the residents. All pennies put into the collection plate go to Mosaic.

Pine Ridge Indian Reservation Project: This reservation is home to more than 38,000 Lakota and Ogalala Sioux native Americans. It is located in the two most poverty stricken counties in the United States. In July or August a group from church goes for several days to deliver wood stoves, and build/repair ramps. In December, there is a Santa Toy Run and Elder Boxes are delivered. You can volunteer for a summer trip or donate supplies. You can coordinate Elder Boxes or provide supplies for them. You can provide toys, games, etc. for the toy drive.

San Luis Valley: This is the poorest region in Colorado and one of the top ten poorest in the nation. Every year more than 4,000 migrant workers stream into the fields. BFLC prepares hygiene bags for the workers to answer basic needs until their first paycheck. In, April, the church provides Easter baskets. In the fall church youth go to the area to glean the fields and give the produce to the needy. Throughout the year, there is an ongoing drive for socks, underwear, towels, blankets, kitchen utensils and the like. You could be a coordinator for one of the drives. You can provide cash donations for migrant workers, Easter baskets and/or all the drives.
