Black Forest Cares: This is a community-supported food pantry that is housed in the church basement. It provides food for people in our community whose budgets don't stretch to meet their food needs. Food supplies are distributed from 1-3 p.m. Fridays. You can help by bringing food donations, volunteering on Fridays, sponsoring a family at Christmas, and supporting holiday food baskets with food or donations.
Men's Service Organization: Men gather each month to assist in a project that helps church and community members with home projects such as removing trees or doing odd jobs. This happens the third Saturday of each month. Any man may volunteer and join this fellowship of work and help.
Mission Quilters: A group gathers to make quilts for the people of Pine Ridge Indian Reservation, the San Luis Valley, and other groups as the need arises. They make approximately 100 machine-stitched quilts each year. Seek out times in The Scribe, the bulletin board and via email. You can volunteer at church or at home (or both!). If you're not a sewer you can cut or tie. Or you can donate fabrics or gift certificates.
Marion House Soup Kitchen: Volunteers meet from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to plan, prepare and serve a meal, then do clean up, feeding approximately 700 people. Adults participate the last Thursday of the month and youth volunteer on fifth Saturdays of the month. You can join the volunteers at the site. You can save jars and plastic containers for take-out. You can consider a cash donation.
